Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee which has of late created an impression that it was regaining the lost ground with its agitations such as bus yatra and dharnas under the leadership of TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy  once again seems to be caught in a dilemma on how to consolidate its gains following the introduction of new schemes like Rythu Bandhu, farmers insurance scheme, etc by the TRS government.

The Congress for the past few months has been attacking the government on various issues pertaining to farmers and has been successful in cornering the TRS government to some extent. But it now feels that it has lost a major weapon to take on the government with government’s schemes.

Disbursement of  financial assistance to every land holding farmer and KCR’s latest announcement of extending technological assistance to farmers, 100 per cent mechanization of farm sector and steps taken to provide MSP  by the state government has pushed the Congress into a new kind
of problem which includes keeping its flock together.

It now appears that the migrations from the Congress have once again resumed. Party insiders say that the Telangana Congress was struggling hard to find issues to fight against the KCR government.

A senior leader said the party in-charges of many Assembly constituencies rushed to their segments and are busy conducting local surveys mainly to get feedback from the farmers on the new schemes and to what extent it was helpful to them.

AICC president Rahul Gandhi is said to have sought a ground report from TPCC leaders on the impact of  the Rythu Bandhu scheme on the winning prospects of the Congress in the next elections as the schemes already drew national attention.

Leaders said the Congress  unit needs to come out with a new strategy to face KCR in the next elections.

While joining of the Congress MLC K Damodar Reddy and two former MLAs in the TRS has come as a bolt from the blue, the internal dissensions arising out of the issue of expulsion of two Congress MLAs Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy and Sampath Kumar are also creating problems for the party in moving forward aggressively.
