Dead rat found in curry at tiffin centre
Hanamkonda: In a rather appalling incident, a dead rat was found in the curry served to a customer at Akshaya Tiffin Centre located at Subedari in Hanamkonda on Tuesday.
It was said that a person called Ramesh, along with his wife, went to the tiffin centre during lunch hour and ordered meals. But they were flabbergasted at what they found in the curry served in the meals. They found a dead rat in the Brinjal curry served to them in the meals.
The incident led to ruckus as Ramesh and other customers staged loud protests and took the matter to the notice of the GWMC municipal health officer (MHO). The MHO, Dr B Raja Reddy, on receiving the information rushed to the tiffin centre and inspected its premises.
He told the press that the food samples were collected and sent to the lab for testing and issued a notice to the management of the tiffin centre, seeking explanation on the incident. A penalty of Rs 10,000 was imposed, besides withholding the trade licence of the tiffin centre, he added.
