TITA members visit Kaleshwaram project

Hyderabad : The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) is setting new benchmarks for project implementation. 
 
The project is like Three Gorges Dam (Located in China, it is the world's largest power station in terms of installed capacity) of Telangana, stated TITA president Sundeep Kumar Makthala. The project which was conceptualised three years ago has attracted nation’s attention since then. The project has also obtained the final nod from the National Water Development Agency’s Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). To experience the project, a team from Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) has visited the site on Tuesday. 
 
Under the guidance of Telangana Water Development Corporation Chairman V Prakash and Telangana State Beverages Corporation Limited (TSBCL) Chairman G Devi Prasad, about 25 members of TITA have traveled from Hyderabad to visit the KLIP site to experience the project implementation.
 
The project has been taken up on a fast pace. KLIP which saw works beginning two years back, submitted its detailed project report (DPR) to the National Water Development TAC last year. The project has attained a unique recognition of obtaining all the project clearances within a year’s period.  Even the Polavaram Project does not have certain clearances in place even today. With the efforts of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, the dry lands of Telangana are going to get water through the project.
 
TITA believes that this project is a land mark achievement for the State and its members wanted to see and experience the project excellence. The State government’s departments have briefed and demonstrated the project features and goals to the visiting TITA team at the site. The officials have presented them the status and the progress made by the project so far.
 
TITA president Sundeep Kumar Makthala said the KLIP was conceptualised in September 2015 as a part of KCR’s ambitious Mission Bhagiratha Scheme. The project with joint efforts of the Chief Minister and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao hasenabled a historical drinking water supply agreement between Telangana and Maharashtra. The project has witnessed 48 per cent work completion by this March. TITA assured the State government for any technology support towards the execution/implementation of the project.
 
TITA has not only been actively coordinating with the State’s Water Supply department, it has also been collaborating with the India Water Council’s ‘River Right’ and Telangana Irrigation Department towards securing the rights on rivers. Sundeep Kumar Makthala said, efforts need to be made to ensure that there are no violations, misuse and pollution of water bodies. TITA to bring in awareness over these aspects had been constantly raising its voice and educating people through dedicated social media campaigns.
 
TITA team that visited the site include its members Pradeep Nilgiri, Saikumar Reddy, Srinivas Pilli, Vijay Sreeramulu, Ravi Anthony, Chandramouli, Nagesh Appagari, Srinivas Marri, Satheesh Adla, Bandari Jayakumar, Satish Adla and Sreenu besides others.
