Medical practitioners seek training in all district hospitals

Hyderabad: The RMP/PMP associations in Telangana demanded that training and certification programmes for them be conducted systematically and extended to all 31 districts in the State.

Representatives of 10 Registered and Private Medical Practitioners (RMP/PMP) associations met Paramedical Board Secretary and Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad officials on Tuesday and held discussions in this regard.

This comes a day after Telangana doctors and junior doctors fraternities expressed their opposition to the training initiative and gave a letter to higher ups even warning to go on strike if their plea went unnoticed. The Telangana RMPs/PMPs Association founder president S Venkat Reddy said they requested Paramedical Board to conduct training programmes in all district hospitals instead of confining them to few centres.

Also, the need to modify a few provisions in GO 428 prescribing guidelines for RMPs/PMPs functioning was also conveyed to the board, he said. However, the associations did not get any assurance from officials. The representatives were told to take up the matter with higher ups in the  health department.
