Admissions with fake sports certificates likely to be cancelled
In the wake of the prevailing menace of fake certificates being issued by sports associations, a panel was constituted. Headed by the Adviser to the Government on policy and institutional development, BV Papa Rao, the five-member committee recommended cancellation of admission of candidates who submit fake sports certificates for securing seats under sports quota for pursuing professional courses.
Further, criminal cases were also recommended to be registered against the candidates and their parents if fake certificates are submitted.
Also, the Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) should disqualify the ones involved for three years in case of false certification or attestation by any State association concerned with criminal prosecution be initiated on the signatory as well.
In the report submitted to the government, the panel said the association should not be eligible for any financial support from SATS.
According to the reports, a GO is set to be issued after the new guidelines for providing a priority list for admission into engineering, medical, agriculture and other professional courses for candidates under sports quota are listed.
The recommendation also came in the form of sports under sports quota to be included - Sports included in last Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games, Asian Games, Youth Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Youth Commonwealth Games, South Asian Federation Games and National Games.
Since the government has already accepted recommendations of the mentioned games, an annexure must be attached to the new Government Order to be issued for the convenience of students seeking admission under sports quota.
