Doctors JAC to up the ante against training for RMPs

Hyderabad: Doctors’ affiliated to different associations in State have decided to form a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to fight against training and certification classes for RMPs/PMPs.

At a round table meeting held at Indian IMA, Koti on Friday evening, representatives from Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGDA), Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA), Junior Doctors Association (JUDA), Indian Medical Association (IMA) -Telangana unit and Telangana Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (THANA) took part and expressed their reservations to health department's decision.

Briefing details, JUDA chairman Dr P S Vijayender said that the meeting resolved to submit representations to Governor, Health Minister, Principal Secretary (Health), Collectors, SPs in all districts, District Medical and Health Officers (DMHOs) etc. demanding cancelling of training classes.

Also, a complaint cell would be started by doctors to take grievances from people and also doctors over fake practices and illegal treatments done by RMPs and PMPs anywhere in the State.

Also, they wanted the medical practitioners to be addressed as Quacks by the media. Dr Vijayender said that they have decided to hold different type of protest programmes before intensifying further. To start off with doctors have decided to hold black badges protest on Monday.

It may be mentioned here that government decided to impart trainings with senior professors and doctors to RMPs/PMPs and the course duration is one year. The programme includes 3 months of theory, 3 months of working in state-run hospitals and health centres, three months of working in 104 call centres and 3 months of field work.
