Dogs maul spotted deer to death

Kodangal: Stray dogs on Monday mauled a spot deer to death in Rudraram village under Kodangal mandal on Sunday. According to eye-witnesses, a pack of stray dogs encircled the deer and attacked it. “We tried to save the deer by driving away the stray dogs,” said B Nagaraju, a resident of Rudraram. After driving away the stray dogs, Nagaraju informed the incident the Forest Range Officer Sanjive Rao.

However, by the time Sanjiva Rao arrived at the spot, the bleeding dee was dead. The carcass was shifted to the veterinary hospital for post-mortem. “Deer population in Kodangal forest is growing. The deer are straying into villages in search of water and falling victims to stray dogs. We are taking adequate measures to protect the deer population in the forest,” said Sanjive Rao.
