Gadwal: While inspecting a land for the construction of a Plyon near the Penchikala Paadu village for the Gattu Lift Irrigation project (GLIP) under Gattu Mandal in Gadwal district, Jupally Krishan Rao, Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, said the GLIP would become the lifeline for the drought-prone Gattu area.

The Minister hailed the TRS government’s initiative for the construction of the Tummilla lift irrigation earlier in the district. He said the State government was committed to complete the project by August 15.

The Minister praised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for taking up the dream project and said once this project would reslove all the problems of people. “Gattu region is a perennially drought-prone and arid region. Except in rainy season there are no crops grown in this area.

As already the region is literarily backward, majority of the people migrate from this region to various cities and towns for search of work. If Gattu lift irrigation project is completed it will change the lives of the people and fulfil the dreams of people of this region,” said the Minister.

The Minister took on the Congress leaders from Gadwal and said despite being in power for 10 years, the Congress leaders form this region had done nothing for the welfare and development of the people of Gadwal, but have gained for their own.

Kishna Rao said every government had allotted Rs 3 crore to each MLA for the development of their constituencies. But none during the days when the State was united did nothing to improve the basic amenities in the district. The Minister predicted that the TRS would remain power for coming 25 to 40 years.
