Hanamkonda: The four-year rule by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in the State was marred by corruption and misrule, alleged TPCC former president Ponnala Lakshmaiah. Extending solidarity to the padayatra taken up by the district Congress president N Rajender Reddy, Lakshmaiah toured many colonies in GWMC 24th division in Hanamkonda on Thursday.

Speaking to the press on the occasion, he described the Chief Minister as the king of corruption. The TRS rule was limited to slogans, publicity on creating Golden Telangana but nothing worthwhile was done at the field-level, benefitting the common public. Telangana was rated second most corrupt State in the country, Lakshmaiah said.

While making false claims on development and welfare, the CM and his family members amassed unprecedented wealth and also the CM was the only person to acquire assets even during Telangana agitation.

‘KCR is amnesiac about martyrs of Telangana,’ he said. During the TRS rule, Telangana was fallen from being a surplus State to a State of highest debt-burdened, as the CM indiscriminately acquired illegal wealth in the name of welfare and development schemes.

The TRS government was spending highest amount of funding on publicity of schemes to cover up its corruption, Lakshmaiah alleged while demanding that interest accumulated on farmers’ loan waiver must be cleared off and farmers must be paid compensation for crop loss.

Rajender Reddy complained that when the Opposition leaders questioned the misdeeds of the ruling party, they were being silenced using police power.
The padayatra was aimed to expose the failure of the TRS in delivering the election promises made to the city residents, he said.
