Hyderabad Police road safety drive: 643 cases registered in 2 days
Nearly 643 cases have been registered by the Hyderabad traffic police in a period of two days in an ongoing special drive to prevent accidents by vehicles carrying school children.
Hyderabad Traffic Police Additional Commissioner, Anil Kumar was quoted saying to ANI, "Every year we conduct a special drive against autos which ferry school children. Earlier many incidents have occurred in which children have lost their lives.”
He shared that 130 cases were registered against auto drivers on Thursday in which nine were driving without a license and one was caught driving under the influence of alcohol. 513 cases were booked on Friday, in which 55 were against school vans, two against buses and 456 against autos. Nine auto drivers were found driving under the influence of alcohol on Saturday.
A charge sheet has been filed against them while the ones who are carrying extra children are being counselled and warned besides being penalised.
As a part of the drive, parents are being sent text messages to make them aware of the safe transport mode to send their children to schools. Also, school management has been warned to follow all the Motor Vehicles Act rules while choosing a transportation mode for their children.
