Couple from AP electrocuted; two minor kids orphaned

Shandnagar: In a tragic incident, a couple was electrocuted, leaving two of their daughters orphaned in Veljerla village of Farookhnagar mandal on Monday. 

The deceased, identified as Raju and Durgamma, natives of East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh came to Farookhnagar near Shadnagar for etching a livelihood and were working in an orange plantation belonging to a businessman Ramesh hailing from Hyderabad. 

However, in the early hours of Monday, Raju noticed an electrical problem inside the plantation and went near to the local transformer to check and repair if there was any minor problem. But, while doing so, he unfortunately got in contact with a live wire and was electrocuted.

His wife Durgamma who also followed him holding a torch was panicked as her husband received electric shock. She, in a bid to save him, got electrocuted and both were killed on the spot.  

The deceased couple left behind two minor children who were seen weeping profusely over the death of their parents. The police registered a case and shifted the bodies to the government hospital in Shadnagar for post mortem.
