Fake godman decamps with 30 grams gold, 5,116
Nagarkurnool: A fake swami, who introduced himself as expert in curing diabetes and could also ward off evil spirits causing diseases, fooled the family of Kotra Balaiah of Nagarkurnool mandal and decamped with 3 tolas of gold and Rs 5,116 from the victim’s family.
According to the police, Balaiah who was suffering from diabetes for sometimes came in contact with the fake swami who promised to cure all his ills. Later, he asked Balaiah to pay Rs 5,116 as cost of the rituals to ward off the evils.
Believing him blindly, they paid him the money and also let him stay during night at their house. Later, the swami disappeared with 30 grams of gold from their house.
Realizing very late that they were in fact duped by the fake swami, Balaiah and his family members approached the Nagarkurnool police station and lodging a case. The police are investigating the matter.
