BJP promises farm loan waiver up to 2 lakh
Narayanpet: BJP president Dr. Laxman on Wednesday said that his party would waive farm loans up to Rs. 2 lakh in the state if voted to power in the next Assembly elections in 2019.
He was addressing a meeting after reaching Narayanpet as part of his ‘Jana Chaitanya Yatra’. “The TRS government run by K Chandrasekhar Rao is only talking tall and not even fulfilling 10 per cent of its promises. Just talks won’t fill the tummy of the people,” he said.
“What the people had expected after formation of Telangana was a comprehensive change. But what we are seeing today is only empty promises and benefits to only a few.
On one hand the KCR government is claiming tall on the unprecedented revenue growth, on the other the State is under the burden of huge debt. The state government is completely relying on revenues generated from sales of wine and liquor in the state,” said Dr. Laxman.
The BJP president alleged that the state government did not do enough for the welfare of weavers and handloom workers in the State. Instead of spending Rs. 250 crore on Batukamma sarees, the government could have provided benefits to the poor handloom workers and at the same time the government could also have supplied the sarees.
The BJP president alleged that the TRS government had bought the Batukamma sarees from other states and earned commissions. He reiterated that if the BJP is voted to power in the next elections Rs. 2 lakhs of farm loans would be waived off for each farmer.
