Congress outrage against Hitler barb
Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and former Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy on Tuesday came to the rescue of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who was trolled for taking action against passport issuing officer.
Speaking to the media, he said that she has been criticised on the social media by followers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Smriti Irani for her intervention in the passport issue. He alleged that Union government has been shown discrimination by reordering passport verification.
Against Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s Hitler barb, Reddy likened members of BJP to demons and said that there were no literates in party. “There are no leaders in BJP who are concerned about poor,” he said.
Seeking action against Sushma trollers, the veteran Congress leader added that Sushma Swaraj too hailed from a family which was the follower of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Stating that government failed to reduce the tax petrol and diesel, Reddy said the Centre has been trying to bridge gaps in the revenue through income from sale of petroleum products.
He added that Congress was ready for early polls in the State and it would teach a lesson to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. “Chief Minister considers himself as clever and believes that he could deceive the people always. He has been cordial with Prime Minister Modi and wanted to know the fate of the Federal Front proposed by him,” Reddy added.
In another press conference, senior leader V Hanumantha Rao pointed out in several elections that held after the emergency, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had won.
He faulted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for likening Indira to Hitler. He said that if the BJP wants to introduce a chapter on emergency in the school textbooks, it should also include the Godhra incidents. VH criticised that though Chief Minister failed to fulfill the promises made to people of the State, he has been boasting of himself all over the country with publicity.
He said that it was the Congress which could make a person of backward classes as chief minister of the State. Deputy floor leader of Congress in Legislative Council Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said that it was ironical to note that Indira Gandhi has been held responsible for emergency. He said that in the process of democracy, some errors do take place.
He said that Congress president Rahul Gandhi admitted that imposing emergency was a mistake. He said good deeds of Indira Gandhi like nationalisation of banks, establishment of industries, implementation of 20-point formula have been forgotten.
