Telangana bags Best Passport Verification Award
New Delhi: Telugu States have topped the first two slots in the list of ‘Best Passport Verification' States Awards given by the External Affairs Ministry this year. Telangana State, yet again, got nominated for the 'Best Passport Verification’ and received award while Andhra Pradesh secured the second position.
DGP of Telangana, Mahender Reddy, who received the award here on Tuesday from the External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, later told media that modernisation and upgradation had resulted in passport verification getting completed in just four days in Telangana. This remarkable achievement was possible because of the overhauling of the system.
The department was using 'Very Fast App' for the last three years for passport clearance and it was constantly being updated to avoid glitches, he added. In addition, the department was seeking consumer feedback to check for any loopholes. Referring to the law and order, Mahender Reddy said the department was striving to create a crime free State in the country.
Modernisation at all levels was so high that soon no criminal would be able to escape the clutches of law. The aim was to catch the criminal in no time without giving him or her any time to escape. Hence, all wings of the department were working in tandem and with alacrity, he said. Regional Passport Officer of Visakhapatnam received the second best award.
