Traffic awareness drive held for auto drivers
Karimnagar: Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy said that many road accidents are taking place due to over speeding, carelessness and drunk driving. The Commissioner participated in an awareness programme on traffic rules held for auto drivers here at Commissionerate in Karimnagar on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, V B Kamalasan Reddy said that auto drivers must have awareness on traffic rules and must treat the passengers like their family members.
Women passengers must not feel insecure while boarding an auto, and the auto drivers also must behave politely with them, he added. The auto drivers compulsorily must possess driving license along with vehicle insurance.
While carrying school children, the auto drivers must drive carefully following the rules. Parents must keep check on the auto drivers and must observe how many children they are taking in an auto along with complete details of the auto driver, he said.
Around 1.75 lakh people are dead across the country due to road accidents. Auto drivers must not drive their vehicles after consuming alcohol and over speed.
Appreciating the auto drivers for their good behaviour, Police Commissioner V B Kamalasan Reddy said that auto drivers in Karimnagar district are very good and are following the traffic rules.
Traffic Inspectors Sadanandham, Sita Reddy, Sub-inspectors Cheralu, Ravinder, Kanakaiah, Santhos, IT Core Team in-charge Qureshi, President of auto-drivers’ union Ramchandram, City president Bommadi Srinivas Reddy and Bandari Sampath were present along with 600 auto drivers.
