Train runs over Cheetah

Mahabubnagar: A cheetah was run over by the train while it was crossing a track in Venkataiahpally village of Devarkadra mandal on Wednesday. Earlier, the farmers of the village had spotted that a cheetah was roaming in search of a prey in and around Uragutta forest area near Venkataiahpally village for sometimes.

The villagers said, “The wild cat was roaming in the fields for some times and scaring the people.” However, on Wednesday, the poor wild cat had come under an express train while it was crossing the tracks.

“The wild cat had come under the train and died during the night.  We have recovered the carcass and sent it for post mortem after performing the Panchanama.

We will prepare a detailed report of the incident and the same will be submitting to the district forest officer for further action,” informed Ahmad Habeebullah, Forest Range Officer, Devarkadra mandal.
