Uttam blows ballot battle bugle

Update: 2018-06-27 09:14 IST

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday said the party was fully prepared for polls, irrespective of whether they were held in December this year or early next year.

In a live interaction with party workers through Facebook, he said more than the Opposition parties, people of Telangana were desperately waiting for the elections to give a humiliating defeat to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and family. He alleged that youth and students were the major victims of cheating by Chandrashekar Rao.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said the TRS government had failed to provide promised jobs to the unemployed youth during the last four years. He said the vacancies which existed in various departments in June 2014 had remained the same in June 2018. He said the promise of giving one job for each family had proved to be a mirage and Chandrashekar Rao did not even fill one lakh vacancies which he had promised on the floor of Legislative Assembly.

He said the KCR government had been trying to divert the attention of jobless youth by making various false claims. Similarly, he said, students were the major victims of the lethargic attitude of the TRS government. He accused the Chief Minister of playing with the lives and careers of lakhs of students by deliberately delaying fee reimbursement.

Replying to a question from a party worker from Sangareddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy appealed to the Muslims to realise that they had been cheated by Chandrashekar Rao in the name of 12 per cent reservation.

He said voting for the TRS or the MIM in next elections would be like voting for the BJP. While the TRS had been supporting the BJP and Prime Minister Narender Modi since beginning, the MIM had strengthened the BJP by dividing secular votes in many States.

Replying to a question about former minister Danam Nagender leaving the Congress, Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that he would soon conduct a meeting with the leaders and workers of Khairtabad constituency. He also expressed regret that Nagender had read out the script given by the TRS alleging injustice to BCs in the Congress. He said out of 37 presidents of the State Congress, including the PCC of undivided AP, as many as 27 belonged to weaker sections.

The TPCC chief urged all workers to enroll themselves with Shakti App to strengthen the party at organisational level. Further, he asked them to make effective use of social media to reach the masses.
