Congress has a long history of betraying Telangana: KTR
Hyderabad : IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao alleged that the Congress party has a long history of betraying Telangana.
Speaking after admitting hundreds of members belonging to Arya Vysya community into TRS at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, KTR said that Telangana remained backward only due to the continuous neglect by the then successive Congress governments. He said the neglect and injustice went to the extent that people started demanding separate Telangana State. He said Congress never respected the sentiments of people. He said students and youth were brutally shot dead by the then Congress Government during the statehood movement of 1969.
KTR said that the Congress Governments neglected development of Telangana despite the region having huge natural resources. He said it was due to the movement launched by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao in 2001 that the Congress party was forced to support demand for Telangana State. He said the credit of Telangana's 'forcible marriage' with Andhra also goes to the Congress party.
He claimed that KCR has been working hard for the development of Telangana and taking all decisions by keeping the interest of people of the State in mind. It is KCR's honesty and commitment towards Telangana which is driving leaders of various political parties to join the TRS.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy CM Mahmood Ali, Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, MP Malla Reddy, GHMC Mayor B. Rammohan, MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy and others.
