THI’s Rajeshwari Kalyanam bags Best Journalist Award

Hyderabad: Features editor of The Hans India Rajeshwari Kalyanam bagged the Best Journalist Award constituted by Saripalli Kondala Rao Foundation here on Wednesday. She is one among the 10 eminent personalities who received the award.  

Through his foundation, eminent artist, art connoisseur, popularly known as Samskruthika Bandhu - promoter of art and culture, Saripalli Kondala Rao has been in the forefront and the backbone of many cultural events in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. 

Saripalli Kondala Rao Foundation has been conferring annual awards - felicitating artistes from across the State. This year, on the occasion of his 72nd birthday, Lalitha Kala Puraskaram was given to A S Jagannadha Sarma in literature, Anumandla Bhumayya for poetry, DV Mohana Krishna for classical music, Sasikala Swamy for light music, Bhagavathula Sethuram fro dance, M Arjuna Rao for traditional theatre, Kotla Hanumanta Rao for modern theatre, Ambaji Prabhakar for painting, Rajeshwari Kalyanam, for journalism and Nethi Venkata Ramana Sarma for Harikatha.

The highlight of this year's event were 10 awards, Janapada Kala Puraskaralu, given to folk artists from various parts of Telangana. The awardees were grandly felicitated and a cash award of Rs 10,000 was given to each of the awardees. 

The guests included Speaker S Madhusudana Chary, veteran actresses Jamuna and Geetanjali, Palakurti Madhusudana Rao, former director, Doordarshan, eminent lyricist Suddala Ashok Teja and film director Relangi Narasimha Rao. They all showered praises on Saripalli and his initiative to promote art and give a lifeline to the folk artistes.
