MME building at NIT Warangal second best institutional buildings in India

Warangal: The academic building of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (MME) Department at the National Institute of Technology Warangal (NITW) has been identified as one of the best constructed institutional buildings in the country.  

The building is constructed by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) with an expenditure of about Rs 70 crore. The department has decided to celebrate the 164th CPWD Day celebrations in selected buildings constructed under different zones in the country to present awards in various categories.

The NITW building is selected for the second prize under the Civil Stream Best Completed Projects in south zone. The award will be presented to the concerned engineering wing on July 12 on which the CPWD Day is celebrated.

Materials and Metallurgical Engineering Department is meant to cater to the entire academic and research requirements of the department. In addition to state-of-art classrooms and laboratories and computer facilities, the building is having a modern conference hall.

The building will also host Physics and Chemistry departments of the Institute. Two more buildings of Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology Department and Dr Ambedkar Learning Centre are also nearing completion, according to a release from the NITW here on Friday.
