Congress demands extension of RBS to tenant farmers
Khammam: Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy here on Monday felt that the TRS government is trying to exploit the Rythu Bandhu scheme to deceive farming community.
Speaking to the media at Sanjeeva Reddy Bhavan here, Sudhakar Reddy alleged that the State government had portrayed itself as a saviour of the farming community. The government, he said, was spending crores of rupees for advertisements for this purpose. He felt that it was not good to treat farmers as a vote bank.
He found fault with the government for failing to help the farmers secure minimum support prices for their produce. There was no use in providing Rs 4,000 per farmer per acre as crop investment support scheme when the farmers were unable to secure minimum support price of their produce, Sudhakar Reddy pointed out.
He also criticised the government for refusing to extend the Rythu Bandhu scheme to the tenant farmers. Tenant farmers were facing problems in the absence of aid for cultivation of crops, he said.
Sudhakar Reddy justified the demands made by the fair price shop dealers. He demanded the government redress the grievances of the dealers.
Congress leaders K Ranga Rao, Md Fazal, R Manohar Naidu, M Veera Reddy and Deepal Naik were present at the media conference.
