Sircilla: At a time when the entire country is focusing on skill development, Telangana is the only State that has been trying to encourage all the traditional occupations, Municipal Administration and Urban Development K T Rama Rao said.

Launching the second phase of sheep distribution programme along with Animal Husbandry Minister Srinivas Yadav here on Monday, he said that the government, which distributed 60 lakh sheep to shepherd community last year, is aimed at bigger horizons this year.

“Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has always thinks big and it reflects in the welfare schemes he introduced,” KTR said, referring to the efforts of the government for the upliftment of different communities such as weavers and toddy tappers.

The Opposition is trying to make mockery of the welfare schemes, especially sheep distribution, initiated by KCR, he said, asking their government’s detractors to learn about the strides the State made in last four years.

Before 2014, there were only 22 gurukul schools for the backward classes in Telangana region but after the separate State was formed the number went up to 119, KTR said, referring to the TRS government’s pro-education policies.

He said that the recently introduced Rythu Bandhu and the upcoming Rythu Bima scheme could change the face of the agriculture. Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Yadav hailed KCR’s initiatives for the upliftment of the backward classes.

This is where the previous governments totally failed in the regime of united Andhra Pradesh, he added. He said that the government has proposals for the dairy development and fisheries in Rajanna-Sircilla district.

“Sircilla constituency is fortunate to have a hard-working leader like KTR as its MLA,” Yadav said. Even the Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave KTR the appointment, such was his stature and image, he added.

Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar, ZP chairperson Tula Uma, Sheep Corporation chairman Rajaiah Yadav and District Collector Krishna Bhaskar were among others present.
