Target to plant 98 lakh saplings in district

Kothagudem:  Every department should work in coordination and make the government’s flagship programme Haritha Haram programme a grand success, said Officer on Special Duty, CMO,  Priyanka Varghese during a review meeting conducted with all departments’ officers at District Rural Development Agency Office meeting hall on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, she said that officers of all departments should meet the target of Haritha Haram programme which is planting of 98 lakh sapling in the district. By taking support of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), try to plant more saplings in the coal town area, she said and wished that the new district of Bhadradri- Kothagudem would  become green with the plantation of trees and other plants in all places.  

She told officers to draw up a plan to plant trees on the road side of the district. She also directed officers to plant sapplings of different flower plants in the main areas of the city to make them look beautiful. “For the success of the programme, besides planting of saplings, protection of plants is very important and that is the duty of officers,” she said.  

She also asked them to concentrate on the temple city of Bhadrachalam in this programme to plant more trees and plants in various places to attract devotees. District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu said the officers were ready to plant 98 lakh saplings in the district.  

The plants in 65 nurseries are ready for the fourth phase of the Haritha Haram programme, he added.  He said, last year the district had bagged a good place in this programme with the support of all departments so this year it would do in the same manner and added that 45 lakh saplings were already planted by the Forest Department in the district.

Joint Collector M.Ramkishan, ITDA Project Officer Pamela Sathpathy, Sub-Collector Bhavnesh Mishra, Conservator of Forest Raja Rao, DFO Rambabu, DRDA Project Director P.JagathKumar Reddy, and officers of all departments of the district participated in the meeting.
