Hyderabad: The Telangana education department has decided to give a chance to headmasters and teachers to edit web options for general transfers, which they submitted earlier. Headmasters and school assistants, who noticed errors in their preferences, were told to use edit option on July 3, while Secondary Grade Teachers (SGTs) were directed to utilise the opportunity on July 4. Education Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari announced decision after leaders from different teacher unions met him on Monday and submitted a representation to this effect.

Srihari told them that he would discuss the issue with senior officials of the department and accordingly he held a meeting with Special Chief Secretary, School Education Commissioner. Later, the Minister gave his nod to the plea from the teaching fraternity and he warned teachers not to resort to any irregularities or submit fake documents for more entitlement points to push others below in the transfers list.

Srihari said that department would cancel transfer orders and initiate strict action if anyone was found to violate rules.

Among headmasters, 2,182 out of the total 2,193 (99.49 percent), among school assistants 31,483 teachers out of the total 31,968 (98.48 percent) while 39,054 SGTs among 40,729 submitted web options for transfers.

Telangana State United Teachers Federation (TSUTF) general secretary Chava Ravi welcomed the Minister's decision and said that teachers committed errors as this was the first-time transfers are being done in web counselling format.
