Pay 25L ex-gratia to victims’ families, Bahujan Samaj Party demands

Hanamkonda: The leaders of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Warangal district unit have demanded the State government to offer an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh to the families of the persons died in the fire accident at fireworks unit in Warangal on Wednesday.

BSP Wardhannapet constituency in-charge Gadham Shiva and others have submitted a memorandum to Warangal Urban District Collector Amrapali Kata in that connection. They said serious action should be taken against the owner of Bhadrakali Fireworks for failing to ensure safety measures.

Similarly, CPI state secretariat member T Venkatramulu and the party district secretary S Karunakar have demanded the government ensure a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to each family affected by the fire accident. They extended condolences to the affected families.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner of labour department A Gandhi along with senior officials has visited fire accident spot and obtained details of labourers died. Steps for the payment of compensation to the dependants of deceased would be taken, he said.

As per the provisions of Workmen's Compensation Act, the compensation amount would be around Rs 8 to 10 lakhs, Gandhi said. He was accompanied by labour officers K Bharathi and D Venkateshwar Rao.
