Asha workers stage protest

Mahbubnagar: Asha workers in Nagarkurnool district on Friday staged a protest and attempted to barge into the District Collectorate on Friday. Asha workers, who are the healthcare service providers in rural areas and awareness creators, have been agitating for hike in salaries for long.

The main demand for the Asha workers is to increase their honorarium and provide them job security by inducting them as regular healthcare workers. The second grade Asha workers are working for a meagre Rs 5,000 per month.

“We have been demanding that the government regularise our services and increase our honorarium,” said the agitating Asha workers. The police stopped the Asha workers from barging into the Collectorate.
