Congress asks KCR to clear air on APRA promises

Hyderabad: Deputy floor leader of Congress in the Legislative Council Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao answer the questions raised by the people regarding the failures in implementing the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 (APRA).

Addressing the media here on Thursday, Ponguleti said that the Chief Minister seems to have lost the spirit of Telangana and vigour of the statehood movement. The Chief Minister who claimed that Telangana achieved statehood with his efforts forgot the well-being of the State after entering the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), he alleged.

Sudhakar Reddy said that though he had given representations to the State government to protect some mandals in Khammam district from submergence due to Polavaram Project, no action had been taken. He said that as the Parliament session would begin, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government should bring pressure on the Centre to introduce an amendment bill for transferring four villages of Andhra Pradesh to Telangana.

He said that while Bhadrachalam temple lies in Telangana, the properties of Lord Rama at Purushothampatnam have been shifted to AP.  He said that in the counter affidavit filed by the Centre in the Supreme Court in the case on implementation of promises being made to AP and TS in APRA, no mention had been made on the Telangana issues.

Sudhakar Reddy said that the State government did not bother to file a counter affidavit in the Supreme Court. The Chief Minister was busy in encouraging party defections, indulging in vote bank politics and others, he added.
