Cops at ease as Karimnagar gets Cyber Forensic Lab

Karimnagar: Police Commissioner V B Kamalasan Reddy inaugurated the Cyber Forensic Lab set up at a cost of Rs 60 lakh here under the Karimnagar Police Commissionerate limits and assured that all cyber cases would be investigated without delay from now onwards.

Speaking on the occasion, the Police Commissioner said earlier the police officials of Karimnagar under the Commissionerate limits used to depend on the Hyderabad Forensic Lab or the CID department to take help from them for carrying out investigations and to crack down cyber cases.

But with the establishment of the Cyber Forensic Lab here, all cyber cases can be cracked down easily as early as possible. In recent times, many cyber cases have come to the notice of the police. Cyber criminals, by making phone calls to people introducing themselves as bank employees and enquiring about their ATM details, bank accounts, OTP numbers and the like and drawing money from their accounts, started cheating several of people of late.

The Cyber Lab would help keep check on such incidents, apart from finding out the details of the persons who are using abusing language and posting pictures which defame others, he said adding that the culprits could be traced out easily.

Urging the people to be aware of cyber cases, the Commissioner said they must not reveal their bank account and ATM details to others until they were sure to whom they were speaking with. They must not also post messages and pictures which defamed others and damage the image of others, warned the Commissioner.

People must register their complaints immediately in the nearby police station if they were victims of cybercrime so that the police could to crack down the cases quickly, he said.

The Commissioner expressed gratitude to State Director General of Police Mahender Reddy for sanctioning the Cyber Forensic Lab for Karimnagr Police Commissionerate.
