Rain woes keep tribals on the edge
Gundala (Bhadradri-Kothagudem): The lives of tribal people and others living in Kothagudem district were disturbed due to the heavy rains that have been lashing the district for the past four days. Heavy rainfall was recorded in Gundala mandal during the last four days.
The rivulets in the mandal - Mallanna vagu, Jalleru, Kinnerasani, Dunnapothu and Eedumelikala vagu are overflowing. Almost all the villages in the mandal were filled with water and road connection was broken. The worst sufferers are tribal people, who lost the road connectivity to the mandal headquarters.
But two tribals of Narasapuram village, who has some urjent work at the mandal headquarters, dared to cross the overflowing Mallanna vagu on Saturday. They said it is very comon during rainy season for them as they have been doing this for several years. But they urged the government to construct roads connecting their villages with the mandal headquarters.
Meanwhile, rain water entered into the Tahsildar office on Saturday. The staff sweep away the rain water and there were no services on the day, causing difficulty for the people, who visited the office on work. They appealed the government to construct new revenue building. In Bhadrachalam, Godavari River water level reached 10.8 feet, the officials informed and added that the water level may rise due to the heavy rains.
