2 of a family killed in road accident

Munagala (Suryapet): Tragedy struck a family with two of its members getting killed in a ghastly road accident that took place on National Highway 65, on the outskirts of Barakathgudem of Munagala mandal in the district on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Puttapaka Veeraswamy (35)  and his brother Puttapaka Venkatnarayana (32), both residents of Chennarigudem of Chilkur mandal. 

According to sources, both the victims were heading towards Kariviral of Nadigudem mandal on a bike to examine the land purchased by their relatives.

When they reached Barakathgudem outskirts, suddenly a speeding tractor from the same village coming in wrong direction hit the bike on which they were travelling and dragged it for about few metres. 

As a result, the duo suffered critical injuries and were shifted to government hospital in Kodad for treatment. While Veeraswamy died undergoing the treatment, his younger Venkatnarayana breathed his last while shifting to Khammam for better treatment.

Both bothers have two children each. After post-mortem, the police handed over their bodies to family members for final rites. Meanwhile, another brother of the duo has committed suicide two-and-a-half years ago.

Based on the complaints by family members of the deceased, the Munagala police registered a case against the erring tractor driver and took up the investigation.
