Hanamkonda: The members of BJP, ABVP and Brahmana Seva Samakhya and priests have taken to the streets at different places in erstwhile Warangal district on Monday, protesting the house-arrest of a spiritual leader Swami Paripoornananda by Hyderabad police.

The members of Brahmana Seva Samakhya, led by its state president V Jaganmohan Sharma, staged a rasta-roko at Amaraveerula Keerthi Sthupam at Subedari in Hanamkonda. Speaking to the press on the occasion, he strongly condemned the house-arrest of Paripoornananda and wanted him set free forthwith.

He objected to the police action. It was wrong to house-arrest the spiritual leader, who was scheduled to embark on ‘Dharmagraha Yatra’ (padayatra) from Boduppal in the State capital to Yadadri. The yatra by the head of Sri Peetham, Paripoornananda was meant for a just cause and to express dissent against anti-Hindu statements by a film critic Kathi Mahesh in a peaceful manner, he said.

Similarly, at Parkal town in Warangal Rural district the BJP and ABVP activists along with a large number of priests staged rasta-roko at ATM Centre in the town. S Santhosh Kumar of BJP and a priest Ramakrishnama Chary demanded serious punishment to Mahesh.
