Cops rescue stolen infant within hours

Adilabad: The police on Tuesday rescued a newborn baby boy within hours of his abduction. The incident occurred during the wee hours of Tuesday. According to sources, Dirabasi Mamatha of Choregaon under Narnoor mandal delivered a baby boy on July 4 in the RIMS Hospital here. The mother found her baby missing at around 3.30 am. Her relatives immediately alerted the hospital staff who in turn informed the police.

The police who swung into action verified CCTV footage besides alerting all the police stations. During a vehicle check, the police took Soyam Nagesh and his wife Pushpalatha of Dasnapur colony in Adilabad into custody under suspicious movement charges with a newborn baby near Neredigonda checkpost.

It is learnt that the accused Pushpalatha said that she resorted to theft as she was issueless. Later, the police united the newborn with mother Mamatha and father Ganesh.
