D Ed candidates agitated over Centre’s notification
Khammam: DEd Candidates Association district unit on Tuesday staged a sit-in programme at Dharna Chowk demanding that the Central government withdraw its decision to appoint BeD candidates as secondary grade teachers in the government schools.
The representatives of the Association, supported by the Progressive Democratic Student Union (PDSU) and Student Federation of India (SFI), took out a rally from Amedkar centre to the District Collectorate after garlanding to the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar and staged a sit-in at Dharna Chowk in front of the District Collectorate here.
The DEd candidates alleged that the Central government had issued a gazette notification that only BEd qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the secondary grade teacher posts in government schools.
The DEd qualified candidates were waiting for the last two years with a fond that they would secure postings as secondary grader teachers. With the decision taken by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), prospects for the DEd qualified candidates looked bleak, they felt.
They demanded that the Central government withdraw the decision D Ed Candidates Association members Sri Harsha, Tejaswani, Sai Babu, Anusha, Bhavani, Ajay, Anitha, Shruthi, Vijay, Sachin, the PDSU leaders Azad, Chandu, Kiran, the SFI leaders Hemanth, Uma Mahesh, Prasanna, Naresh, Gopi and Santosh were present at the programme.
