Hyderabad: Former MP V Hanumantha Rao on Tuesday criticised that the Chief Minister did not have any affection towards people of backward classes, but he wants their votes.

Addressing the media, he said though the Intensive Household Survey conducted by the government found that the BCs comprise about 54 per cent of the State’s population, the Chief Minister is not interested in their welfare.

He said that the Chief Minister has been indulging in a bad propaganda that the Congress has been thwarting the efforts of the government to give reservations to BCs by going to the court.

While the Chief Minister promised that the BCs would be given reservations in local body elections, now he has been moving the court on the issue. The real intention of the Chief Minister was to deny adequate representation to BCs.

Hanumantha Rao said that a committee of the party would take a decision on allowing Rajya Sabha MP D Srinivas joining the Congress. He said that Srinivas is yet to make up his mind on joining the Congress.

He wanted Hyderabad City Congress president M Anjan Kumar Yadav to take the suggestions of the party leaders before appointing committees for the DCC.
