Kula Vivaksha Porata Samiti condemns banishment order against Mahesh

Khammam: Kula Vivaksha Porata Samiti (KVPS) district secretary Nandipati Manohar here on Tuesday condemned the police actions in banishing film critic Kathi Mahesh from Hyderabad for six months.

The KVPS leaders and activists, comprising various Dalit organisations, formed a human chain here at Saritha Clinic centre here in protest against the police actions against Mahesh.

Speaking on the occasion, Manohar said that the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and the police had deliberately created controversy against Mahesh as he belonged to Dalit community.

In a democracy everyone has the right the express their opinion without fear. The Constitution has guaranteed to right to expression, he said. The BJP-led organisations were trying to suppress the intellectuals belonging to the Dalit community. He demanded that the government direct the police to revoke the banishment order against Mahesh.

KVPS district president Prasad and leaders G Beemaiah, K Gurumurthy, N Chiranjeevi, G Bhiksham, R Prakash, K Balaraju, Rajesh, Chukkaiah and Hussain were present at the programme.
