Suryapet gets ready for green drive
Suryapet: District Collector K Surendra Mohan urged students, people’s representatives, NGOs and households to extend their cooperation to make the fourth phase of the State government’s flagship programme Haritha Haram a grand success in the district.
Surendra Mohan launched a plantation drive of 5,000 saplings organised by the Department of Industries on the Suven Life Sciences Ltd premises located at Dasaigudem of Suryapet mandal on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, he called upon the people to plant as many number of saplings as possible to make the fourth phase of Haritha Haram a grand success in the district, which is going to be start very soon.
He urged the managements of the industries to play key role in planting and protection of saplings as the percentage of forest coverage in the State is less than recommended.
He advised the officials to create awareness among the people on the importance of ecological balance and to improve the amount of rainfall in the district.
Stating that sufficient number of saplings were available at various nurseries in the district, he said the district administration was ready to provide saplings to the people for planting as part of the programme.
District Industries General Manager Baburao, Suryapet MPP V Janaiah, MPDO Nagi Reddy , Sarpanch Padma , Suven Life Sciences head VSS Murthy, Vice President Sheshagiri Rao, Managers CJ Rayudu, M Krishna Rao, Veeraiah, Rasool Madina, Ramana, Senior Manager Bhoora Ramulu and others participated.
