Opposing the move of the Education Department, the students of GGVI along with the representatives of various student unions have been staging sit-in dharna at the college for the past few days, demanding that the government should take up admissions for the academic year of 2018-19 along with providing basic facilities.

Extending her support to the students, Rao Padma alleged that instead of sanctioning funds to the institute and appointing teaching staff, the government was trying to dissolve the government education sector. She demanded the government continue the institute along with providing basic facilities for the benefit of girls and women.
