Sports quota scam: Warangal link unearthed
Warangal: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Friday arrested Telangana Judo Association treasurer B Kailasam Yadav in connection with the irregularities in the admission of MBBS under sports quota. It is alleged that Yadav took a bribe of Rs 1 lakh for issuing a copy of allotment of priorities to ineligible students for admission into MBBS course under sports quota.
It may be mentioned here that seven of the 11 seats obtained under sports quota are from Warangal. Of which four seats were obtained by producing judo certificates during the 2017-18 academic year.
It is learnt that some of the judo association member issued sports certificates to ineligible persons by taking a bribe of Rs 4 lakh from each candidate. According to reports, T Sunil who had paid a part payment of Rs 2 lakh to Yadav approached the ACB after the sports quota scam came to fore.
It is learnt that officials who raided Yadav’s residence at Fort Warangal seized fake certificates, students’ identity cards and other documents. ACB DSP M Kiran Kumar and ACB Inspector Vasala Sathish were among others participated in the raid.
