Dalit Mahasabha accuses govt doctors of shirking duties

Khammam: Telangana Dalit Mahasabha (TDM) State unit president Nagati Rayanna here on Monday alleged that the doctors working in government hospitals are shirking their duties and allowing junior doctors to provide healthcare to patients.

The TDP leader, in a memorandum to District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar, said many doctors in government hospitals were not attending to patients. What was the point of giving a massive publicity by the government, painting a rosy picture of government hospitals, he asked.

In many Primary Health Centres (PHCs), the Staff nurses were conducting the deliveries in the absence doctors. The KCR Kits and medical facilities provided by the government in the PHCs attracted the poor to the government hospitals. But the doctors were not providing critical care service to the patients, he said. 

He demanded that the government enforce discipline among the doctors. He urged the officials to ensure that the doctors attend to their duties.
TDM General Secretary Banothu Badhru Naik and Secretary Gundla Venkanna were present at the programme.
