Wanaparthy: The residents of Bunyadipur village of Pebbair mandal lead by sarpanch Venkatesh Sagar sought the intervention of Wanaparthy District Collector Swetha Mahanti to set up English medium school in their village.

Sarpanch Venkatesh Sagar said, “our village is more than 20 kilometres away from the district headquarters and it is not viable to send our children to English medium private schools.”

“Moreover, the fees that are charged in the private schools are also very high and we poor farmers cannot afford to pay that much fees. Therefore we have come here to represent to the District Collector to set up an English medium school in our village,” said the sarpanch.

We already have a primary school up to 7th class in our village. But the villagers are now demanding the government to introduce an English medium so that the poor children who cannot afford to go to private schools can also have schooling in English medium on par with the private school students.

“We have given a representation to the District Collector to appoint additional teaching faculty in our village school to teach in English and begin the English medium school from this academic year.

For this the Collector has assured to look into the matter,” informed Shiva Raju, Vidhya Committee chairman of Bunyadipur village. Ward member Krishnaiah Goud along with villagers Vishnu, Kurumaiah, Suresh, Yellaswamy, Narender, Chandra Mouli, Buchibabu Goud and others were present on the occasion.
