Negligence polluting Doodh Bowli water
Karimnagar: ‘Doodh Bowli’ (milky well), which once quenched the thirst of Nizam rulers and neighbouring villagers, is now damaged and polluted by granite quarrying going on in the surrounding areas, due to negligence.
The Doodh Bowli is a historic tank in the premises of Molangur Fort in Molangur village of Kesavapatnam mandal in Huzurabad district. The Fort is located 13 km away from the district.
The fort, belonging to Kakatiya era, was built by Voragiri Miggaraju, a chief officer in the ranks of Kakatiya Prataprudra. It was built as an
impenetrable bastion of power for the Kakatiyas.
Within the fort’s premises, towards the foot of the hill on which Molangur fort was located, Doodh Bowli or the well that contains milky water
is present.
It is said that this water is as white as milk and has great medicinal value. It was said that this water cured several diseases. Villagers strongly believe that drinking water from this well will cure various diseases. The Nizam of rulers of Hyderabad in the past used to get water from this well through various means.
A recent survey, after testing samples of water of this well, declared that this water has medicinal value. The Government ordered the officials of geology department to find out the facts about the water of Doodh Bowli and to their surprise they found it to be true.
The water is as pure as any branded mineral water company. Some corporate mineral water companies also did research by taking water samples from the well and got the same results as that of government.
All the higher officials, who visit Karimnagar, will like to drink water from this well instead of going for branded mineral water bottles. During summer, the well will be dried up and as soon as water oozes during monsoon, villagers will rush to fetch water from the well.
Village Sarpanch Marati Venkateshwarlu said that if the government takes the initiative and developm Molangur Fort and Doodh Bowli, it would attract many tourists from other parts of the State.
He urged MP Boinapalli Vinod Kumar and local MLA Rasamai Bala Kishan to develop the fort and to transform it as a tourist spot by releasing sufficient funds. He also requested them to issue orders to cancel granite quarries in and around Molangur fort, which are damaging and polluting the water in the well.
