Update: 2018-07-19 05:30 IST

Hyderabad: City Congress leaders and the police had a brief tussle when the latter tried to prevent the former from taking out a protest march against the bad condition of city roads, near MLA Quarters here on Wednesday.   Congress leaders, under the leadership of Greater Hyderabad Congress chief M Anjan Kumar Yadav, tried to lay a siege to the GHMC office, leading to their arrests.

The police arrested them by stopping the agitating Congress activists at the MLA Quarters by locking the gates which led to serious argument between the police and Congress activists. The police arrested the Congress activists and shifted them to Narayanaguda Police Station.

Speaking at Narayanaguda Police Station, Anjan Kumar Yadav alleged that the conditions of roads were not good in Hyderabad. Both Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Municipal Minister K T Rama Rao were giving false assurances of development of Hyderabad city. They assured that they would transform Hyderabad City as Dallas and Istanbul but did nothing, Yadav alleged.

The roads were good in front of the Chief Minister’s residence, he said, adding that the government was arresting if they staged protest.  Opposition leader in the Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir alleged that the democracy in the State was being killed by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government. He said he heard that a woman underwent delivery in an auto when she was going to hospital due to bad roads and this incident clearly showed the condition of Hyderabad roads.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, who visited Narayanaguda Police Station along with Shabbir Ali, alleged that the roads were full of pits. People were facing a lot of trouble due to bad roads, he added.

There was no democracy in the State and dictatorial rule was going on in the State. One day the people would revolt, he said and added that every development took place in Hyderabad was during the Congress rule. Unfortunately, the TRS government was claiming the credit of development during Congress regime,
he pointed out.
