CPM condemns attack on Swamy Agnivesh
Khammam: Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) district unit leader Yerra Srikanth here on Wednesday condemned the attack on social activist Swamy Agnivesh in Jharkhand State on Tuesday. He said the attack on the social activist was engineered by the Bharatiya Janata Yova Morcha (BJYM) and Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) affiliated to the RSS0.
The leaders of the CPM party three town committee burnt an effigy of the BJYM and ABVP activists in front of the grain market here. Speaking on the occasion, Srikanth alleged that the attacks on social and human rights activists, democrats, Dalits and other innocent people were increasing by the day after the BJP came to power at the Centre. The BJP party was encouraging communalism in the country and was provoking the activists of its affiliated groups like BJYM, ABVP and RSS to attack and kill its opponents.
Instead of focusing on fulfilling its promises, the BJP was trying to spread communalism for getting politial mileage. He demanded that the BJP government take actions against the persons who attacked Swamy Agnivesh.
The CPI-M party leaders T Lingaiah, Y Srinivas Rao, B Yakaiah, Srinivas Rao, Veera Babu, M Sathyam, P Sathyanarayana, P Naga Sulochana, S K Babu, A Venkanna, B Ramana Reddy, V Nageshwar Rao and Naga Raju were present at the programme.
