Tally to provide additional certificates to OU students in Accounting and GST

The Osmania University on Friday entered into MoU with Tally to provide training to B.Com students in its accounting software.

To improve the employability opportunities of students of Commerce at under-graduate level, the Department of Commerce, Osmania University introduced Computerized Accounting and Goods and Services Tax (GST) papers in V and VI semesters of all streams of B.Com course from the academic year 2018-19.

The students are also provided an option to get certification from Tally, one of the leading Accounting software companies of the country, at a very nominal fee. Tally would also provide training to the teachers of all the colleges both in Computerized Accounting and also in GST.  Tally would provide the multiuser licensed software at free of cost to the colleges apart from providing the required material to the students.  Further, Tally would assist the colleges in placement of the students with their certification.

Department of Commerce in collaboration with Tally organized the Faculty Development Programme for the first batch of teachers from about 100 colleges today in the Department.  With this the students of B.Com will get option to get three additional certificates along with B.Com degree viz., Licentiate Certificate in Insurance, since they are studying four insurance papers in III to VI semesters as part of Skill Enhancement Courses, Tally Certificate in Accounting and Tally Certificate in GST. 

Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University Prof. S. Ramchandram was present at the time of signing of MoU by Professor Gopal Reddy, the Registrar, Osmania University and Manish Chowdhary, CEO of Tally Solutions Private Limited narrated the steps taken by the university in improving the skill set of the students. Professor Gopal Reddy listed the MoUs entered by the University with various international professional bodies for providing various options to the students of commerce to acquire additional certificates such as CMA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA etc. Professor K. Shankaraiah, Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Professor Prashanta Athma, Head, Department of Commerce and Professor S.V.Satyanarayana, Chairman, BoS also spoke on the occasion.
