Water level in Godavari receding

Kothagudem: Water level in the river Godavari is receding at Bhadrachalm on Monday. It is now at 26.8 feet. The people residing in the low-lying areas along the coast of the river heaved a sigh of relief as the water level decreased.  

The water level in Godavari rose to 30.1 feet on Sunday following rains in the catchment area. Devotees who come for pilgrimage in the temple town faced problem. Officials will sound flood alert if the water level rises to 48 feet. 

Despite the water level coming down slowly, the officials are still on alert. All precautions have been taken to meet any eventuality. Revenue officials have stocked adequate food grains in the event of water level rising to dangerous level.  A control room has also been opened in the Sub-collector’s Office for monitoring situation.
