Green challenge picking up steam

Warangal: Accepting the 'Green India Challenge' taken up with the slogan ‘Hara Hai To Bhara Hai’ thrown by Chief Conservator of Forests MJ Akbar, Warangal Rural District Collector M Haritha planted three saplings in the premises of her office here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Haritha said that she was happy to take forward the green challenge promoting the concept as a tribute to former Indian President Abdul Kalam initiated by Priyanka Varghese, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for Haritha Haram.  

“I nominate Commissioner of Police V Ravinder, Parkal MLA Challa Dharma Reddy and Wardhannapet MLA A Ramesh,” she said, referring to the importance of taking forward the challenge.

Stating that there is a dire necessity to focus on increasing the forest cover in the district, she said that responsibility is on every citizen to promote this kind of inspirational challenge thereby bringing awareness on planting trees contributing to the cause of Mother Nature.

Later, the Collector administered oath and took a pledge to take up plantation drive with great zeal and enthusiasm. District revenue officer Hari Singh and DFO K Purushotham were among others present.
