KCR to attend Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu on July 29

Hyderabad: The historical shrine in Secunderabad, the Ujjaini Mahankali Temple, is being bedecked and arrangements have been made ahead of the State festival Bonalu to be celebrated on July 29.

The host of dignitaries who will visit the temple on the auspicious day includes Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, according to Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. 

The Minister visited the temple on Tuesday and held a review meeting with the officials. Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Yadav said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would be attending the ritual at the temple at 11.30 am. Some 2,000 women would come in a procession carrying traditional Bonalu and present them to the presiding deity. 

Elaborate arrangements were being made for the mega festival which would be thronged by a large number of people, said the Minister.  “We have specially prepared bonam, nose ring, bottu and a sword made of gold to be presented to the Goddess on that day. 

Endowment Minister A Indrakaran Reddy, Excise Minister T Padma Rao Goud and MP Kavitha will present these ornaments to the Goddess,” he said. He also said silk clothes would be presented to the deity on the temple premises.
