KCR, KTR should take a stand on SCS to AP: Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad: Congress leader and Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Industries Minister K Taraka Rama Rao make their stand clear on Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh, as they are the ‘real owners’ of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party.
Addressing the media here on Wednesday, Revanth Reddy said that K Chandrashekar Rao and Rama Rao are the owners of the TRS and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and others were workers of the party. The opinions of the leaders like Harish do not matter, he added.
While the Chief Minister’s daughter and MP K Kavitha supported SCS to AP, Ministers like Harish Rao and others have opposed to it, he added. Revanth claimed that Harish Rao said if SCS is given to AP, industries of Telangana would shift to that State.
Revanth Reddy said that the TRS has a dubious stand on the SCS to Andhra Pradesh as its main leaders support and others oppose it. The party does not have one policy. In view of this, the TRS chief and his son should take a stand and make it clear to the party.
Unlike the TRS, the Congress has a clear stand on Special Category Status as its CWC had categorically announced that SCS would be given to AP if it comes to power. Party former president Sonia Gandhi had vowed to give SCS to AP.
Rubbishing the comments of Minister Harish Rao, Revanth said that no industry from Hyderabad would shift its base. Even they have been hesitating to move from Madhapur to Shamshabad, though the government offered lands.
Revanth Reddy said that the decision to merge seven mandals of Telangana with Andhra Pradesh was made after K Chandrashekar Rao became the Chief Minister and Narendra Modi the Prime Minister.
Citing a document relating the cabinet note on the issue, Revanth said that the previous UPA government opposed to the merger of seven Telangana mandals with AP as it needs a separate Act. The then government made it clear that the next government should pass a bill in this regard.
But, as soon as the NDA government was formed at the Centre, the ordinance to merge the mandals had been issued. However, the Chief Minister did not bother to question it then, he added.
Revanth Reddy said that Industries Minister Harish Rao should realise that he would be necked out of the party soon. He should stop acting on behalf of the TRS as it would not help to continue in the TRS.
Replying to questions on a case filed against him, Revanth Reddy said that he was ready to face it. The government had been foisting cases on him to get rid of him. The TRS leaders want to chase him away as he had been hindering their efforts to usurp government lands.
