KCR to shower gifts on Independence Day
Hyderabad: This Independence Day will be a unique one for Telangana state. Half-a-dozen new schemes and development programmes will be unveiled on August 15. Another half-a-dozen schemes are also under pipeline to be launched on the same day.
Farmers insurance scheme, announcement of interim relief (IR) to government employees under new Pay Revision Commission (PRC), launch of the supply of drinking water to all villages under Mission Bhagiratha, inauguration of Metro Rail between LB Nagar and Panjagutta, Kanti Velugu and Dharani programmes will be launched by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Officials said that arrangements are in full swing for the launch of all six schemes. KCR already announced the launch of farmers insurance scheme and Kanti Velugu (eye testing) scheme in his Gajwel Assembly constituency.
State Agriculture department had completed the enrollment of the names of farmers under the insurance scheme which provides Rs 5 lakh coverage to each family of the farming community. Nearly 40 lakh enrollments were already done and verification is on to find if any farmer’s name is not included.
The Medical and Health department will open special counters at all Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and also organise special camps in the colonies to conduct eye tests for all under Kanti Velugu scheme.
Officials said that the Chief Minister had instructed the PRC Chairman CR Biswal to make recommendations on extending interim relief to all government employees before the new pay revision commission comes into force. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao is monitoring the progress of the Metro Rail works on day-to-day basis personally to meet the deadline set by KCR to the launch of services by mid-August.
State Revenue department has been asked to rectify the errors and complete the updation of Dharani website which is one stop shop to address land-related issues, including registration and mutation process through online.
Official sources said that KCR is keen to launch all the six programmes on a single day as the schedule for next elections is fast approaching. The launch of distribution of financial assistance to the self-employed youth in BC and Minority communities and disbursement of benefits to the persons engaged in traditional occupations is also under progress. After the launch of all schemes, KCR will take up first round of district tours and review the implementation of each scheme, officials said.
